Enjoy moments together

Trip with a dog. How to prepare well for it?

Trip with a dog. How to prepare well for it?

Sea, mountains, forest or lake? Warm days are conducive to longer trips, and we wonder which place is the best to relax. More and more often we decide to take our pet with us. At home and abroad, we can find many dog-friendly places where we will be welcome with our four-legged friend. It is also worth considering the dog’s must-haves for travelling. What does our dog need for a vacation?

On the trip:

Transporter, mat or suspenders with a belt

Whether you take your dog to a nearby lake or drive a car for miles. Your friend should be, above all, safe during the travel. A properly selected carrier or harness with a belt will not allow your dog to walk in the car, and thus protect him in case of an accident.

Water

Like us, animals are thirsty during travels. So it’s worth having a bottle of water and a dog bowl with you to quench your pet’s thirst.

Health record book / passport

It is very important to have a health book that contains the most important information about your dog and the confirmation of the anti-rabies vaccination. If you’re going abroad, you’ll need to get a passport.

Badge

A thing essential not only for a travel, but also every day. In case of the escape of a dog, a badge gives a better chance that someone will find our dog and inform us about it. A good solution here is also microchipping.

During the leisure:

Feed

Remember to take away the food that your pet is currently eating. In the case of dogs with sensitive stomachs, it is not worth experimenting with feeding unknown foods purchased during the trip.

Bowls

It is worth having bowls with you in which our dog gets meals and water.

Lead, dog collar, suspenders

The wardrobe of a dog is extremely important. Let’s make sure it’s a good fit, doesn’t rub the dog and doesn’t restrict its movement.

A blanket/bed

If your doggy has a blanket or bed in which he loves to sleep and feels safe, it’s worth taking it with you.

Toys

We take a beach ball, shovels and rakes with us… And the same way our dog may want to play during the holidays. If you are going to the water and your dog loves to swim, it is worth to equip yourself with floating toys that float on the water and are easier to catch.

Dog waste bags

Cleaning after the pet is extremely important. Not only does it protect against the spread of germs and bacteria, but it also proves us as dog carers.

Preparation against ticks

We should protect our friend from uninvited guests before we leave. However, if we do not do this, we should buy a preparation during the trip. We have a choice dog of collars, drops and pills.

Dog’s first aid kit

We can buy or complete a dog first aid kit ourselves. It is important that there are gauzes, bandages, a preparation for wounds disinfecting, a device for removing ticks and medicines that are systematically taken by our dog.

List of nearby animal clinics

Before each trip it is worth checking if there are veterinary clinics in the area you are going to. In case you need to see a doctor with your dog, you won’t be stressed about wandering around the neighbourhood, and instead you will quickly find the nearest surgery.

Before leaving, it is worthwhile to write down what our dog needs, so as not to forget anything, and then have fun and rest without unnecessary stress. We wish you safe and wonderful holidays!
