Enjoy moments together
White Swiss Shepherd – a gentle cousin of German Shepherd – is a perfect companion for family fun. Endowed with intelligence and a mild temperament will win hearts of all home dwellers. However, it has to be borne in mind that it has a sensitive digestive system, which it had inherited from its German cousin.
White Shepherd loves to cooperate with humans. Thanks to its intelligence, it learns quickly and efficiently fulfils given tasks – it can be a pathfinder or compete successfully.
Deprived of a highly developed defensive instinct, characteristic for German Shepherds, is also a perfect candidate for a new family member. It will spend a day in a park or on a sofa equally willingly, but even then it is not allowed to forget about its undiminished need of activity, which can be satisfied by at least a one hour walk.
Although White Shepherds are the dogs which were assumed to be a family dog, there are individuals to which a limited trust should be placed. It is important to give more love and patience to such a dog – by deciding to gain knowledge about the world actively since its puppy-hood, the Shepherd experiences various situations, due to which these won’t fear it in the future.
White colour of Swiss Shepherds depends on a recessive gene, which both parents have to have got. In 19th century, the first attempts to achieve a clean line were made, however, by 21st century, White Shepherds were inequitably considered to be deprived of the pigment and features distinctive for albinos were ascribed to them. In 2002, at the request of the Swiss, FCI recognised the White Shepherd as a separate race and Switzerland became its home.
Despite the fact that the White Shepherd has been a separate race since 15 years, this feature, common with its German cousin, is deeply rooted in it. Both German Shepherds and White Swiss Shepherds have unusually sensitive digestive systems, that is why the quality and digestibility of their food is extremely essential.
Feed, which they eat, should be rich in fructooligosaccharides, that is prebiotic dietary fibres. FOS have an enormous influence on a correct functioning of their digestive tract and care for the growth of a healthy intestinal flora and the elimination of harmful bacteria.
Proteins which are easy to digest such as lamb not only means a decreased risk of allergic reactions, but also lower probability of the occurrence of bloatedness, diarrhoeas and vomits as the result of the decrease of the quantity of undigested ingredients going to the large intestine.
Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid have a positive effect on the quality of hair and the skin health. All those ingredients, appropriately balanced, mean health and a good condition of your four-legged, white friend.
